This exhibit is out of this world! Just like most of America, I hadn’t heard the name “Isabel Toledo” until Michelle Obama wore one of her dresses to the president’s inaguaration, but after seeing this exhibit I can say I’m a die hard fan. The Museum at FIT has also done an exceptional job of curating this exhibit by showing the actual shapes of the patterns next to each completed dress. They also divided her designs up in different sections of “Organic Geometry,” “Shadow,” “Suspension,” “Liquid Architecture,” “Shape,” “Manipulated Surfaces” and “Origami.” Here are some pictures of my favorite pieces from the exhibit:
