The “Brooklyn Greenway” is an awesome initiative to create a 14- mile path that connects 4 parks in Brooklyn for recreational use. The “Brooklyn Greenway” runs from Greenpoint to Sunset Park along the Brooklyn waterfront. The “Brooklyn Greenway” will be a huge contributer to our favorite borough! It’ll provide a way for people to enjoy the Brooklyn waterfront by biking, walking, jogging or blading! I’m so excited to see the completed project… but right now you can visit the section that’s open on Colombia Street.

For more info on the “Brooklyn Greenway” Initiative visit http://www.brooklyngreenway.org

You can find out ways to volunteer, contribute and about great events that support the “Brooklyn Greenway Initiative” by visiting this website.

That’s right! Free People has totally re-done their website, including the “We the Free” section. The new style is less crafty, and a lot edgier! It has great features including an option that allows you to zoom in on pictures of the garment you’re viewing, and it allows you to decide which brand you want to view between “Free People,” “We the Free,” and “Intimatley Free.” You can also now register a wishlist on freepeople.com for your birthday or holiday gifts!

Visit the new website at freepeople.com/wethefree and send them some feedback!

On the 6th of June we had the band “Company of Thieves” play an acoustic set in our backyard, here in Brooklyn. I was looking up music videos for the band (who since the show I’ve fallen in love with) and I came across this one shot at our concert! Genevieve Schatz has such an amazing voice, and she was able to be heard above the Smith Street traffic and acoustic instruments. Check out the Company of Thieves live performance of  their song “In Passing” from Brooklyn’s We the Free store below:

I’ve also been youtubing “Company of Thieves” music videos. I love the one for their hit single, “Oscar Wilde,” where Genevieve is wearing a Free People top during the performance set!

Today I went to see the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new fashion exhibit “The Model as Muse, Embodying Fashion” and it was fantastic! The concept of the exhibit is to show the way iconic images in fashion photography, film and style have influenced and affected fashion in history. The Metropolitan Museum of Art did such an exceptional job at curating this exhibit because they included everything from each factor that played a role as a “Muse” in fashion at that time. This included film clips, music videos, original copies of Vouge and Vanity Fair through the decades, music and bringing famous fashion photographs to real life. You can take a virtual tour of “The Model As Muse, Embodying Fashion” by watching this video the Met put together:

Some of my favorite fashion photographs were included in the Model As Muse exhibit, including this one that was taken for Yves Saint Laurent’s Safari line in the 60’s!

This vivid photograph taken by Richard Avedon is one of my all- time favorites in Fashion history. They recreated the actual scene with the original dress for the entrance of the Model As Muse Exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Model As Muse is everything an exhibit should be. It’s vivid, exciting, historical and stimulating. I highly recommend visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art before it’s gone!
